Every winter, the LCA Advanced Drama class participates in the Minnesota State High School League One Act competition. Throughout the state, private and public schools prepare a 20-35 minute play to present before a panel of judges; the plays are judged by some of the following criteria: physical and vocal characterizations, technical elements, educational value, and overall effectiveness as an ensemble. The genres for these one acts can range from comedy, drama, or even original works.
During the winter of 2015, the Drama Department performed Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” and received 3rd place in our subsection. Judges deemed the acting, directing, and overall staging concept as “superb theater.”
