The LCA Athletic Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Olson to Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 2017-18 season. After a lengthy search involving over 30 applicants, Coach Olson stood out to the committee with his sincere passion for the athletes that make up the Legacy Basketball program. His desire to elevate the program through a commitment to being Christ-centered and competitive was the formula the committee was searching for. Coach Olson joined the Legacy family as an Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach during the 2016-17 season and is excited to step up into the Head role for the upcoming season.
During his first season with Legacy Basketball, Coach Olson quickly connected with the players on the court. His high energy approach to coaching and ability to relate with the athletes at all levels of the game added an element of fun during a year of transition. This season, Coach Olson will look to build off of the team chemistry that started in 2016 and create a team united in the goal of developing each other on and off the court. In his own words, “I hope to take the things that worked well for us last year and put my own spin on them to build the confidence of our young team.”
A graduate of University of Northwestern, St. Paul, where he was a 3-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, and track, Coach Olson leads the junior high ministry at Grace Fellowship Church in Brooklyn Park and enjoys downtime with his wife Anna and young son Paxton. Please join us in congratulating Coach Olson on the next leg of the coaching journey at Legacy!
Coach Olson will be available at many of the remaining Monday and Wednesday evening open gym nights for players and parents to connect.
