“And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.” Jeremiah 32:39
En Gedi is the combined efforts of students, teachers and ministry leaders to bring the Legacy community together for a time of worship, inspiration and encouragement. Just as the Biblical En Gedi was a place of refreshment and refuge, Legacy secondary students are invited to gather each month to get away and recharge at our En Gedi!
The En Gedi Story
The story of En Gedi is part of the bigger story of the amazing things that God is doing through the Legacy community. En Gedi began in the fall of 2010 with the goal of bringing the LCA student body together for worship, encouragement from God’s Word, and genuine Christian friendship. Just as the biblical En Gedi was a place of refreshment and refuge, we wanted to created a place for Legacy students to be recharged and refreshed.
The En Gedi story really began in the spring of 2010 when a group of students began to meet weekly to pray for their school. These students were praying that God would do something through Legacy that was “beyond what we could ask or imagine.” They prayed that LCA would be a place that was spiritually alive, where students and adults would love and care for each other, and where the light of Christ would shine.
En Gedi has been one of God’s many answers to these prayers. These gatherings have become an awesome picture of genuine Christ-centered community. Students of all ages who may never spend time together otherwise interact in teams and small groups to encourage and inspire each other.
This sense of community is not isolated to monthly events. There is evidence school-wide that Legacy is becoming an incredibly special place. People on the outside are beginning to notice and comment on the unity and school spirit of LCA students. God is transforming Legacy students from the inside out, and it shows. Students care for each other, pray for each other, and encourage each other. Our theme verse from Jeremiah 32:39 is a real description of the Legacy family – “I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.”
