Service Learning

There is no question that being involved in service is an important part of life at Legacy. We encourage students to serve, provide opportunities through secondary Homerooms to serve together, and do service projects in elementary classrooms. During the 2010-2011 school year, we will have our first all-school Service Day on December 6th. On this day, all of our students will be involved in a service-learning project. Most of the elementary projects will take place in the classroom, while secondary students will be visiting service sites with their Homerooms. Part of the value of service learning is the learning part of the day. Why are these people in need of our service? What system changes need to take place to eliminate this need? How do we serve humbly? Having the ability to serve is a gift from God and we want our students to gratefully accept that gift and serve others.
