Reading Camp

Grades Entering:  1-3

Dates:  June 5-8

Session I:  9:00 – 11:30 am

Description:  Spend a fun-filled week reading, exploring, writing, discussing, and creating with other budding book lovers! All snacks and materials are provided and based on that day’s reading theme. Class limited to 15.

Musical Theatre Dance Camp

Grades Entering:  7-12

Dates:  June 19-22

Location:  School Chapel

All Sessions:  6:00–8:00 pm

Cost:  $100

Description:  Learn the basic skills of dance (Ballet and Jazz) that are often used in musical theatre! A great way to prepare for dance auditions, stay active, or just have fun learning something new! Class limited to 15 students. Students should dress comfortably, wear something you can move in and bring jazz or ballet shoes if you have them.

Literary Minds

Session I: June 19-22 (Grades 8-12)

Time: 5:00-7:00 pm

Cost: $60

Description:

This session includes authors and short selections from a survey of literary periods. Students will analyze and develop critical thinking & writing skills. Each student may produce a portfolio for future reference.


Session II: July 10-13 (Grades 10-12)

Time: 5:00-7:00 pm

Location: Legacy Classroom TBD

Cost: $70

Description:

This session enhances both the critical thinking & writing skills necessary for and anticipated by university level instructors. Texts will include 2-3 authors traditionally found in university curriculum such as T.S. Elliot and James Joyce.

Music Lessons

Description: Various opportunities are available to work with Legacy Music Directors Tirzah Gerber (piano and voice individual/group lessons) and Rolly Rudzitis (band instruments, guitar, Garage Band and composing) throughout the summer.

Additional details will be available in May.

A+ Drivers Education

Dates:  May 30-June 3 & June 5-9

This class starts on a Tuesday. Class will meet on Saturday, June 3.

Spanish Camps

Theme: “The Fantastic World of Dinosaurs”

Grades Entering:  1-4

Dates:  June 12-15

Session I:  9:00-11:00 am (Grades 1-2)

Session II:  11:15 am-1:15 pm (Grades 3-4)

Cost:  $100 (includes all materials and supplies)

Description: Planned to introduce young language students to basic Spanish while creating a vivid experience that includes dinosaurs and erupting volcanos! This camp will include “hands on” activities with lots of arts and crafts projects intended to help students learn Spanish vocabulary such as colors, numbers, animals, sizes, food, nature words, etc.

Theme: “Simple Cooking with a Peruvian Twist”

Grades Entering: 5-8

Session I:  9:00-11:00 am (Grades 5-6)

Session II:  11:15 am-1:15 pm (Grades 7-8)

Cost:  $100 (includes all food, ingredients, and baking needs)

Description:  Peru is considered one of the Gastronomic Capitals of the World. For this reason, while teaching Spanish around this subject, I will be proud to share some of our most popular and easy dishes loved by kids. This camp will be very instructional and useful for boys and girls of middle school age.  Students will work on all preparation and note taking of the educational part such as learning about quinoa, yucca, passion fruit, and other typical Peruvian foods that are possible to find in the Twin Cities.  Included in the camp menu will be popular Mexican foods such as guacamole, burritos, pico de gallo, and beverages such as Inca Kola, passion fruit juice, etc. The cooking environment will be kid friendly, with camp director being the only one to use the stove/oven.
