This weekend, MCCS Alumnus Tija Rudzitis ’09, returns to the state where she began her collegiate volleyball career to take part in the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team Open Tryouts in Colorado Springs, Colo., in hopes of landing a spot on one of the U.S. Women’s National Team Programs.

Rudzitis – who stands 6-3 – was a standout at Colorado Christian University – a Division II institution in Lakewood, Colo. – where she was an All-RMAC (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) selection and was named National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-Region.  She finished her collegiate playing career at University of Northwestern St. Paul, helping the Eagles to a conference championship and their first-ever NCAA Tournament win in 2012. She finished her lone year on campus with 200 kills and 107 blocks in the middle.

Fans can follow Rudzitis’ journey via her blog, which can be found here.
