A special thanks to ABC Newspapers Staff Write Olivia Alveshere for covering Legacy’s 40th first day of school and publishing the article below.

It was the 40th first day of school at Legacy Christian Academy Aug. 22.

The Andover school rolled out the orange carpet for students, celebrating the start of another year.

Pounce, the school’s mascot, was on hand to pose for photos, and faculty and staff lined up to welcome kids back with high-fives.

The school’s enrollment has increased by 4 percent from last school year to 470 prekindergarten through 12th-grade students, according to Kaia Larson, alumni and marketing coordinator.

The school has a number of events planned throughout the year to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Next up is The Mane Event, Legacy’s very own version of the Tough Mudder or Warrior Dash obstacle course. The event is scheduled for the morning of Sept. 10.
