The students in this winterim class were able to not only learn about Islam in the classroom, but were able to take a field trip to a local mosque and observe firsthand the way Muslims worship. They observed their prayer time and heard an Islamic sermon on the importance of right thinking. Afterward, we had a time of Q & A with five of the leaders in the mosque. This time went so long that we missed our lunch at the Holy Land Deli; but we were incredibly surprised when they brought in five massive boxes of pizza! Their hospitality and warmth was such a blessing. Regardless of our disparate views, we were able to experience a taste of Islamic culture (and food) and learn more about the faith of the 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide.
