BASEBALL (Begins March 9)

We look forward to fielding Varsity and JV at the high school level (grades 8-12). For the first time since 2017 we will have a JV team! We will also have our middle school program open to interested 5th-7th graders for the Spring of 2020. Baseball’s team culture is based on four concepts … TEAM FIRST, ENERGY, HUSTLE, and PURPOSE. The Baseball program is looking to build on last season’s 10-8 record and get back into contention for a Section 4A title. Led by seniors Trevin Schmidt and Primeau Hill, the Lions are ready for a great spring! Varsity Head Coach Adam Hill is back for his 5th season (7th overall). He will be joined by returning Assistant Coach Ike Larson ‘13 and Nic Leibold ‘17. If you have any interest in playing baseball email Coach Hill at ahill@lcamn.org.

The middle school program will participate in the North Suburban Parochial School League and will be led by parent Ben Minks (MS-Varsity) & Jason Heilmann (MS)JV).  An evaluation practice will be held at the start of the season to place kids on the appropriate team for development. Practice plans will be confirmed as soon as we hear back from neighboring cities on field use. Currently we expect the MS-Varsity (7/8) to practice early and the MS-JV (5/6) to practice later in the evening based on coach availability.

TRACK & FIELD (Begins March 9)

The Girls and Boys Track teams are looking forward to a great season with a good mix of rookies and veteran athletes. Our co-op with PACT continues to thrive. Co-Head Coaches of the high school program, Cheryl Fregeau and Todd Manske, are thrilled to have a well-rounded and experienced staff returning with Dave Johnson as distance coach (LCA/PACT Cross Country Head Coach), Jeff Davie as pole vault and high jump coach, and Sarah Vance assisting in multiple areas. The middle school program will continue to compete in Anoka-Hennepin Middle School meets should we have enough interest at that level. We look forward to turning over leadership to team captains Clare Moran, Reanna Cruz, Cooper Manske, Jeremy Davie, and Brenden Jankowski.

SOFTBALL – PACT Co-op (Begins March 9)

Coach Kendra Magaard enters her 4th season with Legacy athletes in their third year as a co-op with PACT Charter School. Varsity and JV teams will practice at both schools while most home games will be played at Ramsey City Park. There will be a Softball meeting held at PACT on Monday, March 2 at 5:15 pm. The MS team, led by Coach Jayme Buchelt, will practice and host games at Legacy.

BOYS & GIRLS GOLF (Begins March 16)

Once again, we are blessed to call The Links at Northfork our home course for Boys and Girls Golf. Veteran Girls Golf Coach Dan Nelson is joined by first year Golf Coach Josh Coleman on the boys side. All interested golfers in grades 7-12 should register early to be in the loop on uniform ordering and other pre-season details.

CLAY TARGET:  TRAP SHOOTING (Begins March 30)

This Spring 2020 the Legacy Trap Team will kick off its 6th season.  Leading the team is returning Head Coach Todd Foy, along with 13 other assistant coaches.  The team will shoot it out twice-a-week at their home range, Beaverbrook Gun Club. Practice rounds are shot Mondays and two competition rounds on Thursdays.  Scores from Thursday are compared with an off-site opponent. Contenders are paired state-wide based on school/team size. We are similarly grouped when attending the MN State Shoot in Alexandria at the end of the season.

Last season Legacy placed second in our competitive conference.  Individual conference awards went out to Jack Olson (1st Place Male Shooter and 1st Place Overall Shooter); Cadence Werth (2nd Place Female Shooter); and Devin Delich (3rd Place Male Shooter).  Shooting in the Novice Division of 155 shooters at the State Shoot, Kyle Conway (our youngest team member) came in 4th place.

The invitation is to boys and girls in 6th grade-12th grade to join us.  You need to be 12 by the time the season starts, and we can help you obtain your Firearms Safety Certificate.  We look forward to another safe and fun season and would love to have you on our team! Inquiries to Coach Todd Foy: (860) 324-6544 or check us out at the Spring Sports Meeting.

Spring Co-op Athletic Opportunities exist in Boys and Girls Lacrosse (9th-12th grade) at Andover High School and Softball (7th-12th Grade) at PACT Charter School. Registration and sport fees will be handled through the host school’s Activities Offices.
