Coach Lisa Murphy

Legacy Volleyball continues to build on a strong foundation of growth and participation across our middle school and high school programs. With that momentum, Legacy’s Athletic Department was committed to finding a coach who is passionate about developing athletes while remaining deeply committed to discipleship. We are excited to announce that Lisa Murphy has been hired as the Legacy Head Volleyball Coach.

Coach Murphy has been coaching in the Legacy volleyball program since 2021. Her experience leading at the middle school and high school levels has helped her develop a passion for connecting with younger athletes and preparing them for the high school program. She also serves as the Middle School Girls Physical Education teacher at Legacy. Prior to coaching at Legacy, Coach Murphy spent two years as the head coach at Irondale High School and two years as the head coach at PACT Charter School. Lisa has been actively involved in club volleyball, serving on the Crossfire Youth Sports staff from 2003–2024 and, for the last two years, coaching for Minnesota Select.

When talking about the volleyball program, Coach Murphy states, “I love our school, our mission, and the community we have built together. Over the past 22 years of coaching, I have devoted myself to building athletes’ confidence, skill, and character. My years at Legacy, including serving as assistant varsity coach last season, have prepared me to lead this program with clarity and purpose.”

“Coach Murphy has been an integral part of our volleyball program these last five years,” said Athletic Director Nathan Bellefeuille. “She is organized, shows strong communication, and has a clear vision for continuing to cultivate a Christ-centered environment. Lisa already has a strong presence in our building and has inspired many students to participate in volleyball. She has done so much for the program behind the scenes, and now we are excited to see how she will continue to build the program and invest in the lives of our athletes.”

Coach Murphy describes her coaching style as relational and active, emphasizing learning through doing. She shared, “I use a lot of conversation, hands-on learning, and games in practice. I believe athletes learn best when they are actively engaged. I want to create an environment where players feel encouraged, supported, and challenged to grow.”

She added, “I am passionate about helping athletes grow not only in their skills, but also in their walk with the Lord. My goal is to help each player pursue her best self while building strong relationships within the team.”

Please join us in welcoming Coach Lisa Murphy as the new Head Volleyball Coach and supporting her as she leads Legacy Volleyball into its next chapter.
