The Global Connections students enjoyed a fun day in downtown Minneapolis. The students learned about resources available for international students during an admissions tour at MCTC followed by a fascinating tour of the Basilica of St. Mary. The day closed with the opportunity to create art at the Walker Art Center, a gallery tour that highlighted multicultural artwork, and some time in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. We had an awesome day celebrating these iconic Minnesota attractions!

During Spring Break 30 students, parents, and staff from Legacy Christian Academy traveled on a biblical history trip to Egypt and Israel! During their travels, the group studied the Bible, not only in its original cultural, historical, and biblical context, but also on site, walking where Jesus and His disciples walked. As the culture, history, and context of the Bible was unfolded in each location, students and adults alike grew in their love for God’s Word, their appreciation for God and His church, and marveled at the beauty of the unfolding of salvation history throughout the ages.

Fun was in the air as kids got a chance to experience what kindergarten will be like! After a year of practicing “getting ready for kindergarten,” students who attended the evening Kindergarten Round Up session got the opportunity to ride a bus and the students who attended the morning Kindergarten Round Up session got to attend chapel.

Of course additional highlights of Kindergarten Round Up included playing games with our awesome Principal, Mr. Nydam, having “morning meeting” with real kindergarten teachers, taking pictures and playing with Pounce (our school mascot), and doing a fun kindergarten project.

After experiencing such an exciting time and appreciating the unique program we have, the 33 families in attendance have been enrolling fast! If you still want to enroll your child in kindergarten, please contact Admissions Director as soon as possible. Classes are filling quickly!

Our kindergarten students are “100 Days Smarter!” since the beginning of the school year. To mark the 100th day of school, they had a parade through the halls of Legacy. Students lined the halls to congratulate the “kinders” for doing such a great job of learning! The 5th & 6th grade students even formed a tunnel for the students to run through.

Congratulations students!

Our kindergarteners are celebrating the 100th Day of School in style today! #LCARoars 💯

This year our 4th grade students are participating in a program called SMART RELATIONSHIPS, a program specially developed for LCA. It uses experiential learning as it coaches students on social skills basics. All 4th graders are assigned to a small group for the year, which meets with Sharon Buffie, the School Counselor. The groups meet approximately one time a month, covering topics such as: valuing self and others; belonging; knowing the differences between conflict, unkindness, and bullying; using “I messages”; learning specific methods to handle relationship difficulties; and becoming an ally for others.

This month the students gathered as a group to talk about including others. They did activities where they experienced exclusion by trying to keep someone out of the circle by linking arms while others were trying to get in. They discussed words like belonging, excluding, and feeling safe. They also talked about practical ways to include others in activities in school and outside school.
